THE Friends of Porlock Visitor Centre recently donated £3,948 to the centre, bringing the total they have raised to £32,823 in the eight years.
And that total rises to £36,983 when extra income from the Elmhirst Trust, Kelly’s Belles, Halloween Nights and Open Gardens are added in.
The funding has been invaluable in helping the centre through the long period of austerity, in which time it kept its head well above water.
The support has come from local people as well as holidaymakers and reflects on the hard work put in by those working in the centre.
Friends’ founder Stephen Fitzgerald is stepping down this year and will be replaced by Anna Toeman, who is already planning a friends’ coffee morning in the next few weeks.
Stephen is pictured on the right presenting the cheque to the centre’s assistant manager Jenny Carter and manager Frank O’Neill.
