A FRENCH football fan who is cycling 800 miles to watch his adopted team, Glasgow Celtic, made a stop-off in Watchet on Tuesday to bring greetings from the town’s ‘twin’ – Saint Renan, in Brittany.
Malo Camus, a French postgraduate student from Brittany who is cycling from from Plymouth to Glasgow, spent Tuesday night in Watchet after visiting Danesfield school.
He was delivering letters from students at two Saint Renan schools – Kerzuar and St Stanislav – as part of a move to strengthen links between Danesfield Middle School in Williton and students of Saint Renan.
Malo said: “I began following Celtic when I was eight years old. Celtic played Bordeaux in the UEFA Cup, so there was a lot of coverage about Celtic in the French press at the time and that’s when I first discovered the club.

“After that, I began finding out more about the incredible history of the club and followed the results. It became my dream to attend a match at Celtic Park.
“In 2017, through my university studies, I was given the opportunity to study for a term at the University of the West of Scotland and was able to attend Celtic matches.”
Through sponsorship, he hopes to raise at least £1,500 for the club’s charitable foundation.
Malo plans to arrive in Glasgow in time for Celtic’s derby clash with Rangers on Sunday, March 31: “I am very touched and grateful to everyone who is supporting me on my fund-raising ride.”
