STUDENTS at Minehead's Foxes Academy have created their own piece of history by burying a time capsule in the grounds of the training hotel's head office.

The capsule has been 12 months in the making and was inspired by another time capsule which was buried in 2003 and dug up last year.

Since then, members of the Foxes' Learner Voice, a group of elected individuals who represent the students, have overseen a fundraising drive to buy a commemorative plaque and special casket in readiness for the 2014 burial.

The students worked together to decide what to put in the time capsule, which is scheduled to be opened in 2024.

There are personal stories, photographs of life at the academy, a Foxes' charity mug, a newspaper and other items which the students felt were important to young people studying hospitality and catering at Foxes.

The Learner Voice group braved the rain to mark the burial while Amy Fielding, head of pastoral care, said a few words.

She said: "The goal of the project was to enable future learners to have a look back at how things were and see how Foxes Academy has evolved over ten years."
