MINEHEAD firefighters were called to Wootton Courtenay on Saturday afternoon when a forage harvester went up in flames. The vehicle was being used in a field off Elscombe Lane when the driver realised it was about to go up in smoke. Fire crews were called out just before 4pm and found the vehicle was already well alight. They used one compressed air foam jet and one hose reel jet to tackle the flames but the forager was destroyed in the blaze. A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire control received numerous calls reporting an agricultural forager on fire on a farm and mobilised two appliances from Minehead to investigate. "The forager, which was located in an open field, was 90 per cent damaged by fire." Photo: John and Jane Bradley, Dunkery Beacon Country House Hotel
