STEVE Perkins has resigned as Minehead Football Club's first team manager, and his last game in charge will be tomorrow (Saturday) at home to Bridport. Pressure of work has meant he has been unable to give the job as much time as he would like - he changed jobs in the summer and is now employed by the FA, which has involved much more travelling. Steve has been manager for 21?2 seasons, during the difficult circumstances surrounding the club, and their struggle in the Toolstation Western League does not reflect the work and effort which has gone into running the team. Many youngsters have successfully come through the youth set-up into the first team, benefiting from Steve's coaching skills, and he is keen to stay involved and will continue to play when available. Chairman Adrian Giblett said; "The club are very grateful for the work and commitment Steve has shown to the club. The position is unpaid and Steve has given endless hours coaching our local team.  "We have been fortunate to have had someone with Steve's coaching qualifications run the team, and I am sure the local youngsters have benefitted from having him in the club. "Steve has worked through a very difficult period for the club, especially this season when facing three months of away games.  "He has always ensured that the team was his utmost priority and has often sacrificed his own playing position for the sake of the team. We very much hope Steve stays involved in the future." The club's committee will be meeting next week to discuss the options available for appointing a new manager.
