PORLOCK High Street has had the added bonus this summer of a new floral fountain sponsored by Porlock Ladies.
The flowers around the village are another example of Porlock’s community spirit, with money for the arrangements being raised by the monthly community meals.
These meals, provided by a group of volunteers, are free to participants but donations are collected for village initiatives.
An array of puddings or cakes donated by residents is always available at the end of the meal, which has become a real village occasion attended by residents of all ages.
To date, money raised from the events has purchased two defibrillators and training for 100 people, and the hanging baskets and floral displays around the village.
The new additional flowers sponsored by Porlock Ladies have helped to brighten up another corner of the village.
Organisers hope to add more displays as money becomes available.
Currently the donations raised from the community meals are to be used for Christmas lights around the village.
The Porlock Ladies hold meetings every second Monday of the month at 7pm in Porlock Village Hall.
