Organisers of Yeovil Carnival say there will be at least 80 floats and four marching bands on Saturday November 2nd.

An added attraction comes in the shape of a carnival prince for the first time ever. The prince will be selected on Saturday at The Liberal Club in conjunction with a children's carnival fun day and fancy dress parade.The prince will travel alongside carnival queen Leigh Brennan, carnival princess Emily Gardner and attendant Autumn Allen.

The route will be the same as last year, with the procession leaving Lysander Road at 7pm and heading for Tesco via Brunswick Street, Old Station Road, Central Road and Reckleford.

The four marching bands are: Dorchester Marching Band (also known as The Quarterjacks), Yeovil Marching Band, The Boys Brigade Band and an unnamed samba band from Chard.

Organisers say that Lysander Road will close as early as 2pm while other affected roads will close at 6pm.

l Members of the public are welcome to attend the fun day and fancy dress parade on Saturday. Doors open at 11am the carnival prince is expected to be named at 12.30pm.
