TWO people were left trapped after a car smash happened on the A358 near Crowcombe on Monday morning (June 8).

The crash happened on the Stogumber Road section shortly before 11 am and involved two cars which were in a collision.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue (DSFR) mobilised firefighting crews to the incident from the Wiveliscombe and Nether Stowey stations.

The fire teams were quickly able to free a person from one of the vehicles and they then used small tools and spreaders to help the second casualty escape.

The crews then gave First Aid treatment to the two casualties until ambulance service paramedics arrived, and the incident was handed over to the police after about two hours.
