ANOTHER good performance by the Kilve bowling attack set up a fifth consecutive victory as for the fourth week running they claimed all ten wickets, sending the home side on the way to success and giving them the remarkable record of 123 points out of a possible 125 from their last five matches.
Once again the coin fell Ian Wheatley's way and once again Sylvester and Reid enjoyed first use of a wicket with lavish seam movement and untrustworthy bounce. It was Reid who made the initial breech, his leg cutter catching Craddock's edge on its way to keeper Lloyd.
Sylvester tormented Lindeque throughout his stay at the crease, cutting the ball both ways at good pace and it was no surprise when he trapped the South African plumb lbw with the total on 39-2.
Opener Parsons played a number of pleasant shots in his 27 and his run out after a mix up with Phillips was a blow to the visitors, one that was compounded when, next ball, Sylvester shattered Bishop's stumps leaving the Grove in trouble at 52-4.

Good tidings for local firms as they are shortlisted in Somerset Business Awards 2026Phillips was joined by captain Cutler and together they attempted to consolidate the innings. However, Phillips in particular was frustrated by the lack of scoring opportunities and this led to his demise as he holed out from the bowling of Neil Cobb.
Cutler was determined to be positive and though he had trouble going through the field he twice went over it for sixes as he desperately tried to drag his side to a competitive total.
Neil Cobb got further reward for a frugal spell of bowling with the wicket of Binding and when Cutler advanced to Wheatley and was stumped Kilve were in command at 120-7.
Despite their best efforts there was to be no sting in the tail as Reid and Wheatley snuffed out any final resistance in the 43rd over.
Although facing a relatively small target, the Kilve batsmen were cautious on a wicket which allowed no liberties to be taken.
Parsons and Penny produced an opening burst bristling with hostility and accuracy forcing both Wheatley and Lloyd to defend firmly. The run rate had barely reached two when Lloyd was trapped in front by Penny.
Just two overs later Bishop struck with only his third ball, Gill sharply pouched in the gully and Kilve were wobbling at 38-2 from 17 overs.
Will Browning came to the crease and provided Wheatley with the ally he was looking for as sharp running and positive shots put the pressure back on Staplegrove.
Having adjusted to the vagaries of the wicket Wheatley began to flow, hitting both Craddock and Bishop from the attack. Browning too, oozed confidence and the pair added 41 in 37 minutes before Browning top edged the leg spin of Lindeque to square leg.
The loss of Browning failed to halt Kilve's progress as Wheatley moved to 50 and was untroubled in ticking the board over at the required rate. Reid's presence at the other end ensured each available run was taken and between them the pair erased any flicker of hope Staplegrove may have had.
The fifty partnership was reached in eleven overs and soon after Wheatley (77 no) had the satisfaction of clipping the winning run, completing a superb team performance that sees Kilve continue their promotion push.
Staplegrove: 142-5 (G Parsons 27, S Cutler 26, A Reid 3-39, N Cobb 2-23, P Sylvester 2-30, I Wheatley 2-30).
Kilve: 143-3 (I Wheatley 77 no, A Reid 25 no).
Points: Kilve 25 Staplegrove 5.
