MINEHEAD shopkeepers rose to the challenge of creating window displays based around the theme of wheels to support the town’s first Festival of Wheels.

It coincided with the visit of the Flying Scotsman to the West Somerset Railway and tied in with the day of cycle races around the town centre on Sunday September 10.

Window displays ranged from the informative, such as showing champion cyclists and record breakers, to the humorous and the colourful.

The challenge was organised by Anne Douglass and Debbie Sawatzki for Minehead Chamber of Commerce, and the winning shop was Knickerbockerglory, whose display featured a woman cyclist taking a tumble but reassuring people that she was wearing the correct underwear.
