A VISIT to a river restoration project, carried out by four landowners in the Oare Valley was a highlight of a recent Farming in Protected Landscapes Day, involving Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA).

Participants saw the work involved in stabilising the river bank, creating a mosaic of habitats, and planting a broad range of trees to strengthen the biodiversity of the area.

This will support unique ecosystems and provide better connectivity for wildlife.

An ENPA spokesperson said: “On Exmoor, we are delivering Defra’s Farming in Protected Landscapes funding programme.

“This supports sustainable farming businesses, diversification, and nature recovery projects.

“It can help reduce flooding, lock up carbon, and improve people’s access to Exmoor.

“It is open to all farmers and land managers within the national park.”
