AN appeal has been launched by Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA) to help rebuild a bridge which was swept away by floodwaters after a storm in June.
The timber Venford Wood footbridge over Dane’s Brook was described by the authority as a vital and ‘much-loved’ crossing.
But it was destroyed and surrounding paths damaged when the brook rose by more than six feet in under two hours at the Brushford Gauge following the storm.

Now, ENPA is asking people to donate to its CareMoor for Exmoor charity to help fund a replacement.
A spokesperson said: “This crossing connects walkers to Hawkridge, Anstey Common, and the Barle Valley.
“Any donation, large or small, will help restore this important crossing for walkers, nature lovers, and the local community.”
