AN Exmoor man has been jailed for 28 weeks after assaulting a police officer just six months after receiving a suspended prison sentence.
Jesse Hughes, age 26, of Barnsclose Mead, Dulverton, appeared before District Judge Angela Brereton in Taunton Magistrates Court on Wednesday (April 29).
He pleaded guilty to damaging a Dulverton woman’s front door and window on April 28 and to assaulting PC James Calloway in Bridgwater on the same day.
Hughes was given a suspended sentence last October for using a weapon in a neighbourhood dispute and spitting at a police officer, and the new offences happened during the suspension period.
Judge Brereton jailed him for 28 weeks in total, with individual periods of imprisonment to run concurrently, and ordered him to pay £500 in compensation.
