DOZENS of homes and businesses across a large area of Exmoor were without power on Thursday (September 24) after a fault developed on overhead high voltage cables.

Electricity was lost just before 8.15 am and National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) said it could be 3 pm before supplies were restored.

More than 70 properties were affected in the triangular area between Dulverton, Brompton Regis, and Skilgate.

A NGED spokesperson said: “There's a fault on the high voltage power lines and we are getting this sorted as a priority.

“We are sorry for the disruption.

“Power may go on and off while we work hard to sort this out.

“We give our best estimate for when power will be back on, based on what we know at the time.

“Times might change if we face unexpected challenges getting to the fault.”

The spokesperson said 3 pm was when the last person in the area was expected to have their power back, with most properties having been reconnected before then.
