What a joy it was to visit the Lynda Cotton Gallery in Watchet to view the exhibition of paintings by Thomas Chidgey, the marine artist.
Chidgey worked in the late 19th and early 20th centuries painting portraits of the sailing vessels that plied their trade to and from Watchet Harbour.
A good number of his paintings were beautifully hung in the Swain Street Gallery. Sad to say the exhibition closes tomorrow (Saturday).
I loved the book by Paul Upton which detailed the life and illustrated the work of Thomas Chidgey - modest in size but fascinating in content - which was published to coincide with the exhibition.

Yet one more example of the enthusiasm that so many Watchet folk and organisations have in sharing the rich heritage of our little harbour town; we are very lucky, well done to all involved.
