BUS campaigners are calling for an evening service to be restored in Wiveliscombe.
The Wivey-Welly Bus Users Group was successful earlier this year with its campaign to bring back a bus connecting Wiveliscombe and Wellington.
First Bus started a trial in April with a twice-weekly number 27 service which also serves Milverton, Langford Budville, and West Buckland.
Now, the group has started a petition for an evening bus to serve Wiveliscombe and is collecting information on the extent of demand for such a service.
It manned a bus stall in Wiveliscombe Community Centre on Saturday (September 20) as part of the town’s regular indoor market to raise the profile of the campaign and also provided information and timetables for local bus services.
• First Bus managers are inviting people to meet them face to face on Wednesday (September 24) to raise any concerns and give feedback, both positive and negative.
They will be in Castle Green, Taunton, from 11 am to 2 pm.
Somerset Bus Partnership co-chairman David Northey said: “This a vital and important opportunity for you as passengers to ask questions, give feed back good and bad, suggest areas that might be improved.
“Please come along and help shape discussions on local and regional Taunton area First Bus services.”
The bus partnership and Somerset Council will also have representatives attending.
