Somerset’s recycling rate is at an all-time high thanks to Recycle More and the county’s green-thinking residents.

The county’s rate has jumped from 52.4% in 2020-21 to just over 56% in 2021-22.

This makes it the highest rate since such figures started being tracked more than 20 years ago.

The recycling rate is the proportion of the waste collected at the kerbside or taken to recycling sites that is recycled, including garden waste and food waste.

Somerset’s performance of 56.2 per cent is likely to put it in the top 10 per cent when national figures are shared later in the year.
