OUTSTANDING young musicians will be featured in a series of Sunday afternoon classical concerts organised by Dunster’s Yarn Market Hotel, and which begin this Sunday (October 5).

Planned for the first Sunday of the month during the winter, the first concert will feature 17-year-old viola player Victoria Stolte, currently studying at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey and recent winner of the entrance scholarship prize from the Royal Northern College of Music.

Hotel-owner Antony Brunt said: “The Westcountry has some wonderful talent both vocal and instrumental in our aspiring young musicians and we should be supporting them in any way we can.

“They all spend countless hours in practice and rehearsals always trying to improve the standard of their performance and the least we can do is to listen and support them.”

Victoria’s musical career has already included performances at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with William Coleman, the Mattheiser Summer Academy in Germany and the Summer String Academy in Pienza, Italy. Until recently she was a student at the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Victoria began her musical journey on the violin at the age of seven, soon adding piano to her studies. She began playing the viola during the 2020 pandemic and it is now her principal instrument.

In 2024, Victoria was awarded the ARSM Diploma with distinction. She has won top prizes at the Cornwall Music Festival (2022 to 2025), the Two Moors Festival Young Musician Competition (2025).

She has also played in the National Youth Orchestra and National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain and recently performed the Hoffmeister Viola Concerto with the Cornwall Festival Orchestra.

Sunday’s concert starts at 5pm. A roast dinner will be provided either before or after the performance, plus a drinks reception. Booking is essential, call 01643 821425 or email [email protected]
