SOME of the evolutionary theories of Charles Darwin will be explained for Wootton Courtenay Gardening Club, which is hosting another seasonal talk for members with a special guest agreeing to return.

Dr Ken Thompson, a botanist who spent 20 years at the University of Sheffield, will return for a second consecutive year to speak at the event in the village hall.

His talk will focus on naturalist Charles Darwin and some of his beliefs about plants.

The gardening specialist will explore ‘plants’ symbiotic relationships’, ‘triffid-like intelligence’, how plants move and even ‘hunt’, as well as aspects of floral evolution.

The event takes place on July 30 beginning at 7 pm and entry is free for members, while non-members pay £5 per person.
