THE Milverton Concert Society is preparing to celebrate a major milestone as it marks its 40th anniversary, four decades of bringing outstanding live music to rural Somerset.
Since its founding, the society has hosted an impressive and diverse range of musicians, groups and ensembles, while also providing an important platform for young professionals, local performers and emerging talent to develop their skills in front of live audiences.
Over the years, many of the artists who have appeared in Milverton have gone on to perform at some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including the BBC Proms, Wigmore Hall and leading international concert halls.
That such world-class musicians can be heard locally is a testament to the Society’s reputation and commitment to making high-quality music accessible to the community.
To begin its anniversary year, Milverton Concert Society is offering something a little different.
On Friday, February 6, at 7 pm, Langford Budville Jubilee Hall will host a special concert by Stringfever, an internationally acclaimed electric string quartet.
Known for their unique blend of humour, stylish musicianship and contemporary flair, Stringfever promise an evening that will appeal to both classical music lovers and new audiences alike.
The quartet performs on striking, colourful electric string instruments and presents a lively programme packed with classical favourites alongside popular and modern pieces.
Stringfever is made up of a family of classically trained musicians: brothers Ralph and Neal, sister Sophie and cousin Graham.
Since forming in 2004, they have performed more than 2,000 shows across 40 countries, ranging from private performances for the British Royal Family to appearances before packed audiences at Madison Square Garden.
With comfortable seating, ample parking and a bar available, the concert promises to be an enjoyable and relaxed evening out.
