DUNSTER watermill will mark National Mills Weekend with two days of milling, demonstrations, talks, and hands-on activities on Saturday and Sunday (May 9 and 10).
Visitors are invited to join the celebrations from 11 am to 3 pm for a behind‑the‑scenes look at how the mill works and the people who keep the ancient trade alive.
Across the weekend the mill will be fully operational with visitors able to explore the renovated bin floor at the top of the mill and learn more about recent conservation work.
This includes the replacement of the mill’s axle and one of its waterwheels earlier this year.
National Mills Weekend is an annual celebration led by the mills section of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB).

This year’s theme, ‘Mills in Time’, explores how they have been depicted in art, photography, and literature.
National Trust millers will be on hand to chat, share their expertise, and answer questions, with ‘walk and talk’ tours running at 11.15 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm each day.
Visitors can also try their hand at making their own flour using a traditional quern stone.
Tasters of apricot spelt cake made with Dunster watermill’s own stoneground spelt flour will be available throughout the weekend.
Those inspired to bake at home can purchase a selection of Dunster watermill products from the mill shop.
Families are also encouraged to become involved, with a free ‘Otter Spotter’ trail running across the weekend.
Young visitors can explore the mill surroundings while searching for otters hiding around the watermill.
Mill manager Stephen Hayes said: "We are so pleased to be playing our part in this year's National Mills Weekend.
“This event brings millers together and features all those who work and volunteer in traditional mills."
Normal admission applies.
