PHOTOGRAPHERS with a love of nature are being encouraged to use this year’s Exmoor Nature Festival to enter a new competition.
Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA) is inviting people to take part in a themed photography competition during the festival, which runs from May 17 to June 1.
ENPA rural enterprise co-ordinator Julie Colman, who is organising the festival, said: “We invite you to hone your photography skills and capture an image that you feel both encompasses the beauty of Exmoor and, importantly, also highlights our connection to nature.
“It is all about celebrating wildlife and wellbeing within our stunning national park, which is the theme of our festival.
“The competition is open to both children and adults and they will be judged accordingly in child and adult categories.”
An Exmoor-inspired jumper given by Hue & Harmony, one of ENPA’s CareMoor charity business champions, will go to both the winning child and adult photographer.
Judges will be looking for an image which really encapsulates the overarching festival theme of wildlife and wellbeing in nature on Exmoor and portrays the value of connecting with nature.
The second and third prize winners will receive certificates.
Photographs should be emailed to [email protected] by Friday, June 6, with one entry per person.
The festival has more than 50 events being held all over the national park with support from Visit Exmoor to showcase wildlife, the benefits of nature for human health, and the sheer beauty of Exmoor.
The line-up includes a bushcraft session teaching essential outdoor survival skills, family fun days, an e-bike safari, forest bathing, marine life watching, wildlife trails, kayak adventures, farm walks, a dawn chorus bird walk, and outdoor yoga.
The full programme of activities and more details about the photography competition are available on the park authority’s website.
