MEMBERS of Minehead’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution station will be attending a very different kind of ‘shout’ to their usual call-outs on Saturday, November 15, when they star in a ‘Songs of the Sea’ charity event in Porlock Village Hall.

As the shanty group ‘DZ Buoys’ they will be raising money for good causes including Epic Gigability, the Tri Service, the Military Veterans’ Pilot Gig Club, and the RNLI.

Started in 2018, the shanty crew have become a popular feature of charity events and last year helped mark the 125th anniversary of the overland launch of the Lynmouth lifeboat.

They have also appeared on BBC Radio Somerset, Radio Devon, and television’s Countryfile.

‘Songs of the Sea’ starts at 7 pm and tickets are £12.50.
