AN event planned to provide women and girls with more information on all aspects of health and wellbeing is coming to Minehead Methodist Church next month.
The day will bring together more than 20 local organisations which will be aiming to make it easier for women and girls to discover the advice, services, and activities available in their community and to build confidence around their health and wellbeing.
The event, on Wednesday, September 16, will run from from 11 am to 5 pm and has been created by Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP), Living Better, and In It Together Somerset.
A spokesperson said: “This event has been developed in response to the need for more accessible health and wellbeing support within West Somerset.
“Throughout the day, women and girls will be able to hear expert talks on topics including nutrition, pelvic health, menstrual health, bone health, and mental wellbeing.
“They can also try free wellbeing activities including yoga, pilates, dance fitness, and mindfulness, and meet organisations offering advice, support, and services, including sexual health, community organisations, housing and wellbeing support, public health teams, and more.
“This event aims to create stronger connections between services and to help to ensure that women and girls know where to turn for support.”
Workshops will include demonstrations and talks on baby massage, menstrual health, nutrition, pelvic health, and osteo bone health, together with taster sessions on yoga, dance fit, core fitness, and mindfulness movement awareness.
There will also be talks and discussions on medieval women, menopausal health, and ‘freedom to be yourself’.
Organisations attending will include community public health, school nurses, pelvic health physios, talking therapies SWISH (integrated sexual health), Thrive village agents, Spark Somerset, and the Beach wellness gym, from Minehead.
