THE ancient history of Exmoor will be uncovered through comedy and radical thinking this September.
Internationally known science and environmental journalist, Myc Riggulsford will be discussing all things Exmoor in his upcoming talk ‘Exmoor: The Charter of the Forest’.
Myc, who is concerned about land rights, the loss of public commons, and the new field of Natural Capital, will be taking the audience back to 1217, when the rights of Exmoor peasants and Dartmoor commoners to feed and shelter themselves were recognised in the Charter of the Forest and later incorporated exactly 800 years ago into the Magna Carta.
Hosted by the Wiveliscombe Civic and Historical Society, Myc’s talk will take place on Thursday, September 11, from 7.30pm at St Andrew’s Church, Wiveliscombe.
