A DEBUT solo exhibition by landscape painter Murray Hammick opens in the Doone Valley Gallery, Malmsmead, on Saturday (August 30) and runs until September 28.

The Exmoor gallery is showcasing Hammick’s evocative new works inspired by seascapes and moorlands and entitled ‘Broad Horizons’.

Working mainly in oils on unprepared MDF board and often applying paint with a palette-knife to build up layers of colour, Hammick captures both expansive coastal horizons and intimate glimpses of Exmoor’s rolling terrain.

‘Broad Horizons’ is a celebration of light, space, and atmosphere, offering both the exhilaration of wide open views and the intimacy of a personal encounter with the land and sea.

Live music by Gypfunk in The Buttery Café will accompany an evening drinks reception to launch the exhibition.
