Evening meal and conversation with author Paul Knight about his time in Broadmoor

AUTHOR Paul Knight, who spent nearly 10 years as a patient in Broadmoor high security hospital, will be in Chives Café, Watchet, next month for an evening meal with ‘conversation, questions, and answers’, and book signing.

His book, ‘High Security High Risk’, is a personal memoir telling of his time inside one of Britain’s most secure psychiatric hospitals.

Mr Knight has appeared in national newspapers and online media, with thousands of readers following his journey.

The evening is an opportunity to hear first-hand about life inside Broadmoor, the realities of living with serious mental illness, and the challenges of rebuilding a life after leaving high security.

They will also have an opportunity to ask questions and buy signed copies of his memoir.

Mr Knight said: “For years, my story was told by other people.

“Writing my memoir gave me the chance to tell it in my own words.

“This evening is not about sensationalism.

“It is about honesty, resilience, and showing that people can rebuild their lives, even after the darkest chapters.”

What was meant to be a three-day respite in a low-security hospital became 10 years inside Broadmoor, one of the UK’s most notorious secure hospitals.

The book’s publishers claim Paul Knight ‘faced violence, chaos, and the unimaginable reality of living alongside some of the country’s most dangerous inmates.

‘Accused of crimes he did not commit, trapped in a system that did not understand him, Paul endured the darkest corners of human behaviour’.
