MEMBERS of the Minehead Amnesty Group were pleased to raise £248 at their annual quiz on March 25.

Despite numbers being down, owing to Covid and other reasons, those who went along were entertained with a range of interesting questions set by Jean Humber of Withycombe.

All the questions were linked to the topical theme of the Queen’s Jubilees and the years of those events: silver (1977), gold (2002), diamond (2012) and platinum (2022), and reminded everyone that jubilee events would be coming up in June.

Amnesty members were very grateful to Jean for the questions, to those who donated raffle prizes and to everyone who came along on the night. The money raised will go towards current campaigns, such as ensuring support for refugees and documenting war crimes in Syria and Ukraine.

The Amnesty Group’s next event is on Thursday April 21 at 2pm in the Quaker Meeting House, when there will be a talk on Afghanistan and the opportunity to write letters and sign petitions about the abuse of human rights in Afghanistan and various other countries.
