DUNSTER First School had a truly inspiring week thanks to year two teacher Lucy Hawkins who organised Inspiration Week to focus children’s minds on their future career pathways.
Each class had visitors throughout the week, from chefs making tasty treats with them to vets, members of the forces and emergency services. Even some ex-pupils returned to show the children what is possible.
And the pupils, staff and head teacher Naomi Philp all dressed up as ‘what we want to be when we grow up’.
“It has been a really amazing week,” said Mrs Philp.
“We have felt so supported by the community really engaging with so many coming in to school to meet with the children and talk to them about what they do. Some even prepared little workshops.
“Our pupils may only seem little, but don’t underestimate our young people – they have dreams, ideas and are the future.
“Each and everyone of them has a bright future ahead of them and we are privileged to be able to start them of on their educational journey.”
And about dressing up, she said: “The adults refuse to believe they are already grown up so we join in too,, sometimes as previous careers and sometimes revealing our retirement plans!
“It was a great week and we hope all our children are inspired and excited about what life holds for them.”
