AS many as 56 children from Cheeky Cherubs nursery visited the West Somerset College Farm Unit over the course of two days.

Derek Brown and the unit’s team were led the children into the shed where they saw an Old Gloucester pig along with her piglets as well as the ewes with their day-old lambs and were very excited to feed the cows in the shed.

“The children all had a turn on the tractor and there were lots of giggles honking the horn,” said Emma Farmer, of Cheeky Cherubs.

The exotic animal collection in the classrooms – with such things as snakes, millipedes, tortoises and all sorts of other animals and insects – is always of great interest.

The children sat down to a picnic lunch in an undercover area at the farm.

“This trip was a fantastic opportunity for the children to enjoy a hands-on approach to farm life,” said Emma.

“We would like to say a big thank you to Derek  and team, who were more than accommodating on both trips and we could not have been made to feel more welcome.”
