AN appeal for a new minibus for residents of a care home in Bishops Lydeard took its first step when a cheque for £1,000 was handed over last week.
The cheque from the Royal British Legion (RBL) in Williton was donated to the Dunkirk Memorial House Minibus Appeal – and is the first of what appeal organisers hope will be many more.
Bert Pearson, appeal organiser and chairman of RBL Williton, said the current minibus – used by residents for everything from lunch club outings to special trips and days out – urgently needed to be replaced.
Now the appeal is seeking to raise £40,000 for a new wheelchair adapted minibus, from other RBL branches and the public.
