Dulverton and District Branch of the Royal British Legion celebrated its centenary with afternoon tea.

Members and volunteers who help with the Poppy Appeal were invited by the president to Littlebrook House, Exebridge, on Wednesday, September 15.

Excerpts from the group’s first minute book reveals that ‘Comrades of the Great War’ met in Dulverton on August 14, 1918, and then, on September 16,1921, the group adopted the constitution of the British Legion.

The meetings were originally held at The Lamb Hotel by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Stanbury.

Surnames of original of members include Chilcot, Chanter and Nelder, and Chris Nelder is a current committee member.
