A TWO-day contribution to the year-long celebration of the 150th anniversary of the publication RD Blackmore’s novel Lorna Doone was held on Exmoor Lawns, Dulverton, last weekend.
Organised by the town council and Dulverton Traders’ Association, it featured Taunton Garrison’s depiction of some of the events from the novel throughout each day.
It included some very loud gunfire from the Somerset Militia’s attack on the Doones, plus the tragic shooting of Lorna at her wedding to John Ridd.
On Sunday there was an open-air ‘Doone Feast’, provided by local caterers Croft and Cottage and including feral hog.
