A MOTORIST was killed in a freak accident on the B3227 on the outskirts of Waterrow in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Jared Prince, aged 27, from Taunton, died when his BMW 323 car left the road on an uphill left hand bend as he travelled north from Waterrow towards Wiveliscombe.

A male passenger escaped serious injury but was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for information about the accident, which happened at 12.36am.

A police spokesman said: "As the driver negotiated an uphill left hand bend the vehicle suddenly left the road to the nearside and demolished a barrier.

"The driver died at the scene. A male passenger was also injured and taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be serious."
