‘Dream home’ lottery winners are from near Wiveliscombe
The retired teacher, aged 71, and her husband John, aged 70, who have been married for 43 years, have three children and 10 grandchildren.
She also received a £50,000 ‘settling in’ cash payment when she won the latest Omaze ‘Million Pound House Draw’ for a six-bedroom property with panoramic views of the Cotswold countryside. She revealed her thoughts in a video posted online and showed the cameras round the new home.
The competition also saw £1 million raised for the RSPCA, a charity Mrs Havenhand has supported for many years. The couple moved from Sussex to a converted cottage near Wiveliscombe four years ago to be able to live close to their children.
Eldest daughter Harriet Havenhand-Iago, aged 42, son-in-law James, aged 45, and their five children Tabitha, aged 12, Susannah aged 10, eight-year-old Clarabel, Henrietta, who is five years old, and two-year-old Quintus all live in a neighbouring property.
Susan said: “We have 10 beautiful young grandchildren who will absolutely adore this house - they all love tennis too, so we’ll be hosting our very own Wimbledon championships this summer.
“I am so glad I entered as I am a big supporter of the RSPCA - so even if I had not won, I was still helping to raise money for a fantastic cause.”
The luxury 10,000 sq ft, three-storey Cotswolds home came fully furnished and included a state-of-the-art kitchen, en suite bathrooms, heated outdoor pool, tennis court, sauna, gym, and cinema room. It also has just under two acres of outdoor space, complete with a pond, waterfall. and private woodland.
