SIR — Having been involved in recent local political activity (May 7 and all that!), I have been impressed by the good humour I have so far encountered here in Somerset with the various other candidates and political parties - and especially with the public at large! Another observation, unfortunately, was the apparent disinterest or indifference shown by many of the younger voters I met. Now that's really worrying. So, to all those who like to think that politics is no business of theirs (and so not for them), please remember that just about everything of any consequence in their lives is affected in some way by a decision by a politician, whether they like it or not. So please don't leave your future entirely to someone else. Why not take a good look at what's on offer and use your vote? Now, more than ever, your country needs you.
