DOG owners enjoyed a rubbish walk to help clean up one of their favourite stretches of beach between Minehead and Dunster. A ten-strong group of pet lovers strode out from Minehead Golf Club on Tuesday and returned with enough waste to fill a wheelie bin. The idea came from Minehead dog owner Liz Singer who persuaded a bunch of friends to join her on her clean-up task ahead of the highest tides of the year this weekend. And she is hoping that volunteers will take part in a repeat performance on Monday. "Most of the rubbish on the beach is washed up so I thought it would be a good idea to try and clear some of it before the high tides and again after them," said Liz. "West Somerset Council does a good job of cleaning the main beach but the stretch beyond the golf course is used regularly by dog walkers." The volunteers walked about halfway towards the Dunster Beach chalets at this week's session and litter-picked on the return journey. Liz has secured free parking in the beach car park at Dunster for Monday's clean-up and is hoping as many people as possible will join her for a 3pm start - with their own gloves and plastic bags.
