DOG wardens are appealing for information after the body of a small black and white male terrier was found dumped in Dead Woman's Ditch on the Quantock Hills.

Both the dog's front legs had been shaved as if it had recently been treated by a vet or even put to sleep.

A spokesman for West Somerset Council said inquiries had been made with vets in both West Somerset and Sedgemoor but had drawn a blank.

"We're hoping someone may be able to tell us something about how this dog came to be in Dead Woman's Ditch and would appeal to anyone who knows anything to get in touch with Sedgemoor District Council," the spokesman said.

The dog's body is being held by a local vet in the interim.

Anyone with information about the dog should contact Sedgemoor District Council on 0845 4082540.
