MEMBERS of Wiveliscombe and District Canine Society have presented St Margaret’s Hospice with a cheque for £1,271.97.
The money was raised at the society’s companion dog show held in October.
Michael Masters, assistant secretary of the society, said: “We were thrilled by the support we received from local and national businesses, and from our members for this companion dog show and thank everyone who helped to make it such a successful event.
“We very much hope to make it an annual event as it proved so popular. We are delighted to support St Margaret’s by donating the proceeds of our event to our local Somerset hospice.”
St Margaret’s provides high quality, responsive and compassionate care to people across Somerset who face a life-limiting illness.
Its units in Taunton and Yeovil and five community nursing teams care for over 3,800 people each year.
Jane Lillis, community fundraiser for St Margaret’s Hospice, said: “We are truly grateful to everyone at Wiveliscombe and District Canine Society who was involved in the organisation and staging of the companion dog show in aid of St Margaret’s and for raising such a fantastic sum.
“Their generosity will help us to make every day count for our patients and their families.”
