SIR — Would dog owners who walk up The Ball in Minehead please clean up if their dog fouls.

I cannot understand how any dog owner could allow their dog to foul outside family homes, and also where there is such lovely scenery which both locals and tourists walk up the steps in The Ball to enjoy.

Not much chance of looking at the view when you have to watch where you and the children are putting their feet.

Another area where dog owners are careless about cleaning up is outside St Michael's First School, where there is a bit of a grassy verge. It seems utterly incredible to me that dog owners should let their dogs foul outside a primary school.

I have appealed to a councillor and to the council and spoken to the dog warden on more than one occasion asking for more 'Clean it up' notices to be placed in The Ball and outside the school, but I have been disappointed with the response.

I am writing to the council again, but also hope that this letter will produce some sense of responsibility from irresponsible dog owners.
