WALKERS have been barred from the coastal path between Watchet and Blue Anchor after a landslide opened up dangerous cracks last Sunday.
The footpath is now closed and walkers are warned to keep away from surrounding areas which are also in danger of collapse.
Coastguards discovered the landslip – near the access steps to Warren Farm caravan site – during routine checks of the coastline.
A coastguard spokesman said: “A narrow section of the footpath on the edge of the cliff was found to have slipped down towards the shoreline.

Somerset County Council workers have cordoned off the area and closed the footpath at the Warren Bay end and Blue Anchor Beach and Beeches Holiday Park access points.
The coastguard spokesman added: “We urge local dog owners and coastal path users to take notice of this closure and not take a risk by walking the remaining section of the path, which could collapse after more rain or a frost.
“We remind all visitors to the coast to take care on cliff edges and the shoreline, and to watch out for crumbling cliffs and landslips, especially after heavy rain.”
