A VERY special guest has helped a fishing group for people affected by cancer celebrate its 15th anniversary.

Sunday 4th June was South West Fishing For Life (SWFFL)’s 15th anniversary celebration day.

The organisation, which was founded at Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor is a fly fishing organisation for people suffering, recovering and living with breast cancer.

Sunday was not just a special celebration but a very special guest arrived to help cut the birthday cake and present the trophy to Karen Hodgson.

Dame Judi Dench and her partner David Mills, who were visiting family in the area, spent the afternoon relaxing and chatting with members, hearing their stories of how SWFFL has helped them move forward with their lives after cancer treatments and make new friends with like-minded people.

The members are taught how to fish by qualified coaches who all volunteer, as do the ladies who provided a delicious lunch and the trustees who are behind the scenes keeping the nine groups over the country running their monthly sessions smoothly.
