A MILVERTON man adjusted the route of his fundraising cycle ride from Land's End to John O'Groats - so that he could attend a committee meeting. Mr Lindsay Fortune, aged 68, is making the epic journey to raise funds for Milverton church organ fund. He set off from Land's End last Wednesday evening, but the organ fund committee had a meeting at the weekend, so he rode via Milverton so that he would not miss it. Lindsay has another reason to pedal the length of the country - he wants to keep up with his daughter, Suzy, who made the same journey six months ago. Suzy made the ride for a breast cancer charity with a friend who had just recovered from surgery. Before leaving Milverton, Lindsay said: "I am really looking forward to making this trip, because it will enable me to see lots of England and Scotland which I haven't visited before. "And if I can raise money for the church organ fund as I go, then that will be a huge bonus." His first week tested his stamina over Dartmoor and he plans to be in York by tomorrow, taking in cathedrals as he goes.
