BRIDGETOWN failed by 40 runs to catch high-scoring visitors Mount in a friendly last Wednesday.

James How and William Sherring took three wickets each as Mount totalled 243-8, thanks largely to half-centuries from E Jones and S Jackson.

In reply, Bridgetown were kept in the hunt as Kevin Bateman and Winzer put on 80 for the last wicket, but the damage had been done earlier, when Peter Wilson with 42 was the only other player to reach double figures.

Bridgetown v Souwesters

KENNY Cross fell just two run short of a century as Bridgetown beat Souwesters by two wickets with one ball to go.

The visitors set a target of 203 to beat with Tom Ridler and Williams Sherring each taking four wickets.

Cross led the winning reply with 98 and Mike Matravers chipped in with 41.

Doorstone

MINEHEAD'S youngsters showed their continuing development as they led the club's Midweek XI to a 155-run win over their visitors from Hereford.

They elected to bat first and Adam Jones led the charge with a quickfire 69 which included 11 fours.

Craig and Matt Sully supported him well with 36 and 52 respectively as Minehead closed on 237-7.

In reply, Doorstone were soon in trouble with 15-year-old Joel Baker bowling particularly well.

Only two players reached double figures, D Parker top-scoring on 35, and the final nail came from 11-year-old Josh Hurley, who took the last wicket, leaving the visitors all out for 82 in only 17 overs.

Brompton Ralph v Rainhill

BROMPTON Ralph lost by 66 runs to touring side Rainhill on Tuesday.

The star for the visitors was R Rafiq, who hit 101 of their 217-9 total, J Lenthall taking 4-15.

In reply, Brompton were bowled out for 151, R Hoddinott top-scoring with 41.

Ashbrittle Ladies v Brompton Ralph Ladies

BROMPTON Ralph Ladies won this friendly last Thursday by three wickets.

With J Embelton hitting 42 and T Coles an unbeaten 41, Ashbrittle set a tough target of 111-4 to beat.

But Brompton managed to overhaul it with N Hole, L Giles and T Govier each hitting 22.
