Police have taken steps to curb unauthorised vehicles using Hendford in Yeovil, between Three Choughs Hotel and NatWest Bank.

Buses and delivery vehicles are normally the only motorised forms of transport allowed. But a Yeovil Town Council committee heard recently that an increasing number of motorists appear to use that stretch of Hendford as a shortcut.

It was members of the public who pointed out the problem, and it was decided that the council should pass the information on to police.

It is not known if police already knew about the problem or acted when told by the council, but police officers have been spotted on a regular basis having words with offenders.
