It was sad to see the report in last week’s Free Press on the sale of the college farm stock.
Imagine how confused my son and I were when we read in the report that the college had said there had been no demand for horticultural/agricultural courses in the coming year.
When my son bought home his options sheet, there wasn’t even a mention of these courses.
My son was disappointed as he was keen to take them. He went into the college and queried its absence with his head of year and was told “that the farm unit was not available this year”. No wonder there was no demand.
Perhaps the college should have said it had no intention of running horticultural/agricultural in the first place.
