POLICE have launched an appeal to help track down a conman who stole money from an elderly Minehead woman in a distraction burglary.

The trickster called at her home in the south of the town between noon and 1pm on bank holiday Saturday, selling dusters and cleaning products.

The victim invited him in and when she told him she did not want to buy anything was asked for a donation.

The man then stole money from a purse and an envelope.

Police have released an e-fit of the thief, who is described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s and about 5ft 5ins tall.

He had short brown shaved hair, was clean shaven and at the time of the offence was wearing a bright orange T-shirt.

He was carrying a large blue sports bag on his shoulder.
