VILLAGERS in Spaxton could once again enjoy a local Post Office service, just months after the dedicated branch at Fourforks closed.
The Post Office is proprosing to deliver services through Spaxton Community Shop following the departure of the previous sub-postmaster.
A Post Office spokesman said the new branch would be modern and open-plan and would be a “local plus-style” branch with enhanced services.
These would include manual banking, Transcash, and Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide International parcels.
The service would be available during shop opening hours Monday to Friday from 9am to noon and from 1pm to 4pm then on Saturday from 9am to noon.
Julia Marwood, Post Office regional manager, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Spaxton and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.
Customers will also be able to give feedback on any issues they would like to have considered before a final decision is taken on the proposal.
The consultation closes on November 20 and submissions can be made by writing to: Freepost, YOUR COMMENTS, Post Office Ltd; by emailing [email protected]; or telephoning 03457 223344.
Customers can also share their views through an online questionnaire at postofficeviews.co.uk, using the branch code 314549.
