The Harbour Community Bookshop in Watchet is returning to its old premises on The Esplanade and will be opening next Saturday (May 8).
The bookshop, which is run by volunteers and relies on book donations, was founded in 2009 by retired teachers Alan and Melanie Woollam. Since then it has raised more than £200,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and given grants to volunteer groups in Watchet.
The building has been refurbished by the Watchet Coastal Community Team and will open every day from 10.30am-4.30pm until October.
Bookshop committee chairman Jeff Bird said: “We look forward to welcoming old and new customers to view our good quality and wide-ranging stock.”
Initially, customer numbers will be restricted to six persons at any one time and, because of Covid restrictions, customers will be requested to wear a face covering and sanitise their hands on entering.
Mr Bird added: “We appreciate that people like to browse in a bookshop but hope for now they will understand the need for this restriction and have due regard to other customers.”
Out of bookshop hours the building will be used by Watchet Learns, a project which provides a range of learning courses and workshops for local people.
