KNIGHTS Templar School and Community Association, Watchet, has received £1,000 thanks to the ‘overwhelming support’ of local people.

The association was nominated for the Benefact Group’s ‘Movement for Good’ awards and was one of four Somerset organisations to be helped.

Financial services group Benefact is for a seventh year in a row giving away more than £1 million to charities through its awards scheme, which sees the public nominate causes close to their hearts.

More than 3,000 Somerset residents put forward charitable causes about which they cared.

Benefact Group chief executive Mark Hews said: “We know £1,000 can make a huge difference to the incredible work charities do and are looking forward to seeing how this financial boost will change lives for the better.”
